Publish Date 5/3/2007 - The purpose of this study is to provide a snapshot of today's Document Management and Imaging (DMI) vendors and compare their strengths and weaknesses against one another, all DMI vendors, the KLAS HIT average (the average of all Healthcare Information Technology products in the KLAS database) and, where applicable, previous performance observations.
Image enablement of paper records continues to be an important strategy in achieving access to information. Using today's offerings, users have found a multiplicity of ways, beyond the business office and HIM, to disseminate information, improve workflow and gain ROI as both they and their users have recognized DMI's ability to act as an integration tool and provide enterprise access to information.
Among other findings, we were interested to note that there was a lack of commonality in vendor high/low scoring. Vendor differences suggest that the challenges for each are indeed different and are more related to operational choices as opposed to technology.
Today's report includes a total of 17 products from 16 vendors. There are 10 products that qualify to be in the Main Body of the report, four that qualify for the Early Data section and three products that are in the Vendor Overview/Technical Assessment sections only.
