What is cloud computing? The term has been around for nearly a decade in the industrial, financial, construction, and software industries, but its entrance into healthcare is only a few years old. Despite all the cloud washing(the practice of rebranding ASP or application hosting services as cloud solutions) that is happening in the IT world right now, there is still some confusion among providers as to exactly what cloud computing is, its potential application within healthcare, and how providers have utilized it thus far.
