Healthcare providers typically have used third-party consulting firms to help fill in the gaps for the implementation team and to meet certain implementation needs. With today's changing marketplace, application vendors are becoming more intricately involved in the implementation process. Given the newness of most software, many providers want to be close to the software vendor and the vendor's development team. Additionally, providers enjoy having the vendor as a single point of contact.

As implementation roles change, providers assume more of a lead role and increase utilization of the application vendor. When looking to bring in consultants, healthcare providers are faced with a myriad of questions. How do I put the team together? Who does what? Who is good at what? How did others before me make their decisions and were they satisfied?

Key findings in the research:

36% of the research participants that KLAS spoke with stated that their overall expectations were met or exceeded by their implementation vendor. Of the 64% whose expectations have not yet been met, software-related issues are the chief culprits. Which vendors are providing implementation support that meets or exceeds provider expectation?

17% of respondents reported that Clinical Transformation / Workflow Redesign were the most challenging part of the implementation process. Which vendors make the process most smooth?

45% of those KLAS interviewed recommended providers be selective and more rigorous regarding team members in their decision making process. What do they wish they had done?

Early findings were also included for Accenture, CTG, Deloitte Consulting, and GE.
