Hand-Carried Ultrasound 2007
This Hand Carried Ultrasound (HCU) Study is a direct result of the demand from the provider community for KLAS to look into the HCU market. Providers wanted to know which vendors played major roles in the market and what type of experiences providers were having with HCU.
The miniaturization of ultrasound technology offers providers a new level of care that that was not previously available and is changing the way healthcare is delivered. The next generation of physicians is being trained on these devices in medical school, and most expect these devices to be available to them upon graduation.
Concern for patient safety is increasing, and providers are more interested than ever in leveraging this technology to enhance patient care, resulting in the rapid adoption of this technology.
In order to ensure the most reasonable comparisons across HCU product offerings, the following standards had to be met for a vendor/product to be included in this research:
- System weight under 20 lbs.
- Hand portable
- Color display
- Current (latest) offering
- General ultrasound usage
