Does Shopping Outside of Healthcare Pay Off?
Will healthcare-specific vendors like McKesson, Cerner, Siemens, and Eclipsys be able to compete with the likes of global BI leaders SAP, IBM, and others? These industry-agnostic BI vendors are supplanting healthcare heavy hitters and garnering by far the largest foothold. Yet, many providers say industry-agnostic vendors are so highly configurable and complex that organizations without an army of IT personnel find them unwieldy, and some view them as simply beyond their reach.
As hospital executives consider their options for Business Intelligence (BI) and try to separate fact from marketing fiction, several questions arise. Which BI solutions are used enterprise wide with reporting for both clinical and financial data? Can core clinical vendors fulfill BI requirements?
