Healthcare providers and Medical Equipment vendors requested that KLAS complete this multichannel MR 1.5T research. The MR modality is increasingly used to perform such scans as Cardiac MR, Breast MR, and fMRI.

While MR functionality continues to rapidly advance, this research helps providers separate myth from fact and marketing hype from reality in order to anticipate the actual clinical effectiveness of the modality, expected performance of the Medical Equipment product and related service, and the level of performance providers reported for each specific vendor.

Select Study Findings
  • Overall scores ranged from 75.6 to 92.0 out of a possible 100. GE, Siemens and Toshiba scored above the MR average Performance Score of 84.7 while Philips scored below it. In contrast, all the Medical Equipment in the KLAS database had an average Total Performance Score of 83.5.
  • The Percent of Positive Comments ranged from 43 percent to 81 percent with the MR average of 66 percent. In contrast, 67 percent of all the Medical Equipment commentary in the KLAS database is positive.
  • Of the 79 respondents providing data for this research, 68 indicated that they also had a PACS solution implemented. GE and Philips sites reported using the PACS solution of their MR vendor as the most frequent alternative while Siemens and Toshiba most used those of third parties.
