Frequently Asked Top 20 Questions
What is the Top 20 Report?
The KLAS Top 20 Report is a high-level, summary report, which gives providers an overview of performance ratings for vendors offering software, professional services and medical equipment to the healthcare industry. Ratings are compiled from evaluations received during a 13-month period from healthcare professionals in North America. The Mid-Year Report is published June 15, and the Year-End report is published December 15.
How did the Top 20 originate?
The first Top 20 Report was published in 1998 to help improve the delivery of healthcare technology by independently measuring and reporting on vendor performance. Data is collected from healthcare providers in IDNs, clinics and inpatient facilities. Each vendor product or service has been categorized into a market segment where like products are compared and ranked against each other.
How many vendor products are rated in the Top 20?
There are over 1600 vendor products and services rated in the 2007 Year-End Top 20 report. These products and services are grouped into over 100 market segments.
What is the difference between Mid-Year and Year-End Top 20 Reports?
Data collected in the Mid-Year Top 20 Report provides an interim scorecard of vendor performance, allowing providers to see how well their vendors have performed. Data in the Year-End Top 20 Report provides a final scorecard for the year.
What is a Category Leader?
A “Category Leader” designation identifies top-rated vendor products in the Mid-Year and Year-End reports for each market segment.
What is “Best in KLAS”?
“Best in KLAS” is a special recognition for vendor performance in the Year-End Top 20 report. The highest performing vendors, in market segments that have the broadest organizational impact, receive the award in addition to being the Category Leader. The “Best in KLAS” designation is vendor product/service specific, and is retained by that vendor for a full year, until the following Year-End Top 20 is published. The “Best in KLAS” designation does not change with the Mid-Year Top 20 report.
