Choices That Matter

I love choices. What to eat when we go out to dinner? Paper or plastic? Conservative or liberal? Romantic comedy or action adventure? The possibilities are endless . . .

With all of the choices in my life, the question I often like to ask is, does it really matter? Is every choice important? Of course not, but the key is to figure out which ones are and which ones aren’t.

Healthcare providers are different because more of their decisions have life or death implications. But on the other hand, many of the choices they have to make won’t have long-term impacts and end up taking precious time away from those that do.

A perfect example of this is the question we often get from providers about ambulatory clearinghouses: With so many high-scoring vendors in the space, does it really matter which one I choose? We decided to create a report focused on answering that very question.

For this report, we interviewed 376 providers about their clearinghouse solution. We learned that most small practices have several options that will likely meet their needs, but as practices increase in size and complexity, quite a bit more differentiation exists between the different vendor options.

So does it matter which ambulatory clearinghouse solution you choose? Yes, and depending on the size and complexity of your practice, it might matter quite a bit.

I’d also love to hear your thoughts as to what makes your clearinghouse vendor the best. Please submit your evaluation.
